What are Singaporeans’ concerns? What are our migrants’ concerns? Can there be a happy marriage between these concerns?
Singapore is a small piece of island that could hardly be seen on the map. With the already small land housing so many population, there is a room for concern when migrants migrate into Singapore to work, study or live. The competition rises as there are more people competing to study well and outperform one another so as to get a better job. Not only that, jobs are being taken by the migrants too.
Migrants come to Singapore to find a better job, to earn more for their families in their hometown. The migrants’ concerns are usually surrounding the education they will receive here in Singapore, the salary of the job they work for and the standard of living they have to cope with.
Can there be a happy marriage between these concerns?
The concerns should not be much of a problem if Singaporeans were to ever get married to a migrant. In order to achieve a happy marriage, both parties must be able to accept each other’s differences and cast aside all negativity and concerns. Instead, a happy marriage would be that of the two sides working together to overcome the concerns and issues at hand. As Singapore lack of manpower for dirty jobs like cleaning and construction works, the migrants fill in and we need the migrants to function too.
